How to Start Overnight Care

  1. Call us or request a free consultation.
  2. We learn the night routine: when your loved one wakes, and what help they need.
  3. Once you decide to start, you sign the service agreement and our Client Services Director completes an in-home assessment and care plan.
  4. We match a caregiver and set the schedule with you: a single night, several nights a week or every night.

Our Caregivers

The majority of our caregivers are state-certified Home Health Aides (HHAs) or Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and every caregiver passes CORI, SORI, OIG and NARC background checks. Our office is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and has cared for Greater Boston families since 2008.

Overnight Care FAQ

Can the overnight caregiver sleep?

No. Overnight caregivers stay awake and are paid for every hour. If your loved one usually sleeps through the night, live-in care may be a better fit.

Is overnight care more expensive than daytime care?

No. Hourly care has one rate, day or night. Live-in care has its own daily rate. See home care costs in Massachusetts.

Can we book one night, or only ongoing care?

A single night is fine. Overnight care works best on a regular schedule, so the same caregivers learn your loved one's night routine. You can pair it with daytime hourly care, or move to 24-hour or live-in care as needs grow.

Is the rate different on weekends?

No. The same rate applies seven days a week.

How do we pay for overnight care?

Overnight care is private pay: you pay Ezra directly, from any source you choose. We do not bill insurance or work through insurance carriers, and we cannot accept Medicare or Medicaid (MassHealth). If you have long-term care insurance, we send invoices and care notes to your insurer, but we cannot guarantee a claim will be approved.

Where do you provide overnight care?

Ezra serves Newton and its villages, Brookline, Cambridge, Boston, Watertown, Waltham, Wellesley, Needham, Natick, Framingham, Belmont, Lexington, Arlington, Weston, Dedham, Milton, Quincy, and surrounding Greater Boston communities. See our service area.
